Time to start planning out your first session! Engagements are great for getting to see my approach to photography first hand but also just having a fun time and capturing your love before your wedding day. Now I'm sure, since this is your first session you’re trying to figure out the best way to plan everything. Well here are a couple of tips to help you out!

What To Wear

When choosing what to wear for your session there’s a couple of things to keep in mind.

Don’t wear matching colors

It is important to not wear matching outfits, you want to make sure your photos feel modern. What’s better is to wear complimentary colors or closely related colors. This will give you the same “feel” of wearing exact matching outfits without feeling like your 10 year old family photos.

patterns are ok, but not for both

It’s just as important to make sure that you and your spouse choose who will be wearing the outfit with a pattern. If you want to wear polka dots then they should wear a plain color. While each of you can wear a pattern they need to be minimal patterns or else you’ll get a clash of the patterns. Having pictures that look too busy isn't something that anyone wants. If you have questions about your outfit take a picture of it and I can give you my opinion.

Dress style

You can never go wrong with dressing a step above casual. Like you are going to attend a party. It isn't quite formal but you know you look good. If you have two outfit options It's always fun to do one outfit as casual and one as more dressed up (like wearing a long dress, nice button up with jeans.
